Self-taught artist born in 1971, RAF URBAN grew up in the southern suburbs of Paris. During the 1980s, influenced by urban culture, he evolved within the atmosphere of the streets, discovering graffiti and hip-hop culture. He was drawn to stencil art for its efficiency, repetition, multiple possibilities, and both militant and poetic dimensions. This technique became his favorite means of expression, which he has since displayed on walls. Founder and defender of the "Diversity Is Hope" movement, RAF URBAN uses his stencils, from which colorful faces emerge, to spread a message of diversity, hope, and tolerance, while also questioning our ability to turn toward others and live together in harmony. His artistic approach represents accepting others and blending our colors, influences, histories, and religions. His work can be found on the walls of many cities around the world: Paris, Turin, Rome, Barcelona, London, New York, Toronto, Montreal… His works are part of our thematic gallery dedicated to "urban art".
