Ralph Resch is a French painter born in 1965 in Mulhouse. Self-taught, he began his artistic career in 1983, drawing inspiration directly from his nightlife experiences, jazz clubs, and live music cafés. In 1985, he became a textile designer at Texunion while attending evening classes at the Fine Arts School of Mulhouse. In 1992, he joined the textile design studio of Paul Hargittai, a Hungarian painter and designer, on Rue de la Paix in Paris. In 1994, influenced by numerous trips to Africa, his painting evolved toward abstraction and warm colors. At the same time, he began working on Fang ethnic masks and portraits of African people. In 1995, he obtained a studio at Quai de la Gare in Paris. He increasingly painted large formats and started using mixed techniques combining gouache, oil, ink, and chalk, featuring broad areas of color where figurative elements are simplified to give full freedom to material effects such as sand, glue, and earth. In the 2000s, he was invited by the French Cultural Center in Jordan and exhibited his paintings at the Royal Gallery of Jordan. He participated in the open studio events of artists’ workshops in Montreuil, exhibited in the south of France, Luxembourg, and regularly in Paris. Since 2016, Open Art Galerie has represented him and is now the gallery through which he exhibits most of his paintings.
His works are part of the 'abstract art' thematic collection.
