Georges MYRAL

Georges Myral was born in 1954 and the painting that he practiced very early as a passionate amateur found its roots in the abstract painting of the 20th century in several movements from which he drew lessons that he combined on the canvas to reach maturity on his own creation. With a technical background, he led a professional life alongside an artistic activity that he never abandoned and punctuated by numerous collective and personal exhibitions. In 2012 he definitively adopted his status as a painter and his work is devoted to an abstraction close to abstract expressionism. In 2018, in a change that he feels is a logical continuation of the evolution of his work, he constructs and delivers to us a work where the support takes a preponderant place in the geometric architecture of the painting. Abandoning any exhibition, he entrusted the exclusivity of his production to the Open Art Galerie gallery. The canvas remains the material of the support used, but the frames are assembled here so as to constitute a geometric whole where the thicknesses of the elements constituting it can vary. The whole then delivers a flat sculpture of contemporary architecture which will sometimes move away from the classic pattern of the square or rectangle. The color will be applied in geometric spaces in a minimalist way to let the eye in between transparency and opacity. Beyond the harmonic balance of an art that can be described as decorative, the often diffused light of the paintings remains a call to introspection for those who look at them.
